10 Most Famous Dance Styles in the World

Dance is the only art of which we ourselves are the stuff of which it is made. The truest expression of a people is in its dance and in its music because bodies never lie. Dancers are instruments, like a piano the choreographer plays.

All my followers on twitter and Facebook know how much I want to dance right now. A friend threw an idea why not write a post on a thing which you love doing. “DANCE”
So here is the list of some of the most famous dance styles performed all over the world. I may have missed out some so please share you favorite in comment section.
Hip Hop dancing (Popping)

Hip hop is a dance style, usually danced to hip hop music that evolved from the hip hop culture. Hip dance consists primarily of moves executed close to the ground.
Belly Dancing
The term “Belly dance” is a misnomer as every part of the body is involved in the dance. The most featured body part being the hips. It basically originated from Middle East. For me no one does it better than Shakira. J
Salsa
Salsa is a syncretic dance genre from Cuba. Salsa is normally a partner dance, although there are recognized solo forms.
Ballroom Dancing

Ballroom dance refers to a set of partner dances, which are enjoyed both socially and competitively around the world. Its performance and entertainment aspects are also widely enjoyed on stage, film and television.
Tap dancing
Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by a tapping sound that is created from metal plates that are attached to both the ball and heel of the dancer’s shoe. These metal plates, when tapped against a hard surface, create a percussive sound and as such the dancers are considered to be musicians.
Bhangra
Bhangra is not a dance for me. It is something that we people of sub-continent find life in. The compilation of gestures, colors and moves is just simply phenomenal.
Break Dance
Break-dance incorporates many types of moves that can vary as widely as a breaker’s imagination and athleticism will allow. The inventory of break-dance moves is extensive, and there are competitions throughout the world. The best break dancer that I know was Michael Jackson.
Irish Dance
Irish step dance is a type of performance dance originating in Ireland from traditional Irish dance. It is usually done in groups but when performed as a solo dance, it is generally characterized by a stiff upper body and the quick and precise movements of the feet.
Robot dance
The robot is an illusionary dance style often confused with popping that attempts to imitate a dancing robot or mannequin. It was originated by Charles Washington
Line dancing
A line dance is choreographed dance with a repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance in one or more lines or rows without regard for the gender of the individuals, all facing the same direction, and executing the steps at the same time.
